The port of Dalian, Liaoning province handled 374 million tons of cargo, in 2012, which put it in ninth place among all the word's ports, New Business has reported.
Dalian Port Grouphas a cargo handling capacity of 303 million tons, or 11 percent more than for last year, in a year-on-year basis. It accounted for 80.9 percent of the total cargo throughput of Dalian, up 1.8 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.
The other ports among the top 10, by cargo throughput, are Zhoushan, in the city of Ningbo, Zhejiang province, which handled 744 million tons in 2012, followed by the city of Shanghai's port, Singapore, Tianjin, Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, Guangzhou, Guangdong province, Suzhou, Jiangsuprovince, Qingdao, Shandong province, and Tangshan, Hebei province.
