The Chery J26, the first automobile completely manufactured in Dalian, officially rolled off the assembly line on Aug 28 at the Chery Auto Dalian factory in the Dalian Free Trade Zone, marking the start of mass production at the factory.

With a total investment of 4.7 billion yuan ($740 million), the Chery factory in Dalian is expected to produce 200,000 cars annually.

The Dalian Free Trade Zone aims to become a state-level base for the manufacture, research, sales and export of cars, new energy vehicles and spare parts.

In recent years, it has attracted investments in automobile related projects concerning car and spare parts manufacturing, auto trade and logistics.

To date, nearly 100 companies, including Chery Auto, SG Automobile Group, Dongfeng Nissan, and Johnson Controls, have opened factories in the zone.
