The 2011 Dalian International Cherry Festival will be held from June 6 to 30, a Dalian official said Monday at a press conference.
Dalian has more than 400,000mu of cherry trees and 120,000mu of them are bearing fruit. In all, 159 cherry orchards are now ready to receive visitors.
The festival will be held in the Jinzhou New Area, Lvshun District, Ganjingzi Disitrict, Puwan New Area and Dalian’s Bonded Area.
The festival, organized by the Dalian Municipal Government, Dalian Tourism Bureau and other local government agencies, will hold its opening ceremony at the Cultural Square in the Jinzhou New Area, the festival’s main arena.
The local government will organize 20 special trains to bring in visitors from Northeast China and charter 15 planes for visitors from Taiwan.
